Abstract
Character education is a process of inculcating values, both of which include components of knowledge, awareness or willingness and actions to implement the values that have been taught. As an effort to realize this, it is necessary to have a model in implementing character education. This study aims to analyze in depth the model of integration of the educational environment in shaping the character of students in Islamic boarding schools and to analyze in depth the character values instilled in high school / vocational schools based on Islamic boarding schools in Banjar City. This study uses a qualitative method, the type of case study with a two-case design. Data collection techniques were carried out by in-depth interviews, participant observation and documentation. The data were analyzed using an interactive model consisting of collecting data (data collection), reducing data (data reduction), presenting data (data display), and concluding (conclussion). Checking the validity of the data is done by testing the credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The results of this study indicate that: the integration of the educational environment in the formation of the character of students in the two Islamic boarding schools is implementing the same educational system, namely holistic integrative, namely combining the formal and nonformal education environments, and the character values instilled in the two institutions are referring to the values of The character values developed by the Ministry of National Education only have 12 character values. Namely religious character, independence, honesty, discipline, hard work, social care, environmental care, creative, love to read, curiosity, communicative and responsibility. However, there is an addition to the term value of character at the Al Kautsar Islamic boarding school with the designation of three aspects of tarbiyah, namely tarbiyah Jasadiyah, tarbiyah fikriyah and tarbiyah ruhiyah.
