This research studied the use of inter-clause conjunction on article of Teacher
and Education Journal of 2014 Postgraduate Program of Universitas Terbuka. The
purpose of this research is to describe the inter-clause conjunctions used in the
article. This is a descriptive qualitative research with the data of compound sentences
of inter-clause conjunctions in the discourse of the article from online mass media of
IPI Teacher and Education Journal onhttp://garuda ristekdikti.go.id with 3 tittles.The
data analysis began with making classification table based on the correlation type of
inter-clause conjunction. The inter-clause of each datum was then observed one by
one and explained then the usage of the conjunctions was categorized whether it was
correct or incorrect. From the data analysis results it was concluded that: first, interclause
conjunctions used in the article included 30 coordinate conjunctions, 69
subordinate conjunctions, and 1 correlative conjunction. The coordinate conjunctions
included 21words of dan(and), 3 words of serta(and), 2 words of atau(or), 3 words of
tetapi(but), and 1 word of sedangkan(while). The subordinate conjunctions included 4
words of setelah (after), 2 words of jika(if), 23 words ofuntuk (for), 3 words of agar
(in order to), 7 words of karena (because), 6 words of sehingga (so that), 12 words of
maka (so), and 12 words of bahwa (that). The correlative conjunction included the
word of antara (between); second, there was a error of using the inter-clause
conjunction on coordinate and subordinate conjunction. The errors on coordinate
conjunction were on the word dan (5 errors) and the word but (1 error). Then, the
errors on subordinate conjunction were on the word setelah (3 errors), jika (1 error),
and untuk (9 errors), agar(2 errors), karena (3 errors), and maka (4 errors). Based on
the results, it is expected that this research can be a consideration for journal article
writers that will publish their scientific writing.
