Abstract

Drug abuse in Indonesia is now very worrying, even Indonesia is said to be in a narcotics emergency. Based on data in the National Narcotics Agency, there is not a single regency / city in Indonesia that is free from narcotics problems. Banyumas Regency itself is an area that is prone to narcotics abuse (rank 3 in Central Java) after the City of Solo and the City of Semarang. Writing this law aims to find out how the role of the National Narcotics Agency of Banyumas Regency in tackling narcotics misuse. The research method used is normative juridical. The results showed that the role of the National Narcotics Agency of Banyumas Regency in dealing with narcotics misuse is already good with the existence of several programs owned by the National Narcotics Agency of Banyumas Regency where narcotics prevention is preventive, repressive, and curative. Preventing narcotics prevention is in the form of advocacy or knowledge about the dangers of narcotics to the public in order to make prevention in the form of socialization to the community, as well as in collaboration with relevant agencies. Represive narcotics treatment is in the form of finding facts or evidence in accordance with Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. Curative narcotics countermeasures are carried out by means of rehabilitation in which the National Narcotics Agency of Banyumas Regency cooperates with the Tim Asesmen Terpadu (TAT). TAT's task is to conduct an examination of narcotics offenders to be given recommendations on whether or not users are fit for rehabilitation. Based on the research results, it is necessary to improve the education of members of the National Narcotics Agency of Banyumas Regency by providing special training by the National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, and increasing the number of young cadres loyal to the National Narcotics Agency of the Banyumas Regency to combat narcotics abuse.
