Abstract

Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) gas are pollutant gases that are visible but can be felt and have an impact on human health. Human activities mostly produce CO and CO2 gases in the air. There is a need to monitor the levels of these gases in the air so that precautions can be taken before the pollutant gases are harmful to human health. One of the things that can be done is to measure CO and CO2 gas concentrations using a particular measuring instrument. In this study, the design of CO and CO2 gas concentrations were designed. The MQ7 sensor uses to detect CO gas and the MQ135 sensor to detect CO2 gas. This sensor integrates with the Wemos D1 Mini Pro module, which already bases on ESP8266 wifi so that it can connect to the Internet network. Data is sent to Firebase via the internet so that it can be accessed using an application on a smartphone, where MIT APP Invertor uses the manufacture of the application. The results of this study are that the MQ7 sensor readings have an error percentage of 2.7% when compared to the sensor sensitivity graph on the datasheet, and the gas sensor of MQ 135 has an error percentage of 1.3%. Furthermore, the results of tests conducted at the University of Muhammadiyah Purwokerto get good results where the levels of CO and CO2 are still below the safe limit when referring to the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU).
