Abstract

Quality of Service (QoS) is an ability of a network to provide a better service for the traffic which passes through it. QoS will make a network administrator watch the Bandwidth, Latency, and Jitter as well as minimize the lost packet of a network so that, by using the QoS, the quality of an ISP (Internet Service Provider) can be identified. There are some ISPs in Indonesia that have been able to use 4G network. By its quality, 4G network is expected to help the user to experience quicker internet connection. This expectation is also expected to happen in Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, in which the ISP service is expected to help the lecturers, students, and staff to experience the same. For this reason, the research is going to identify which ISP is quicker to access the internet, especially for downloading and uploading. This research explains the comparison between download and upload from five GSM cards. The stages conducted in this research include testing the activities of downloading and uploading simultaneously in five different buildings with nine times testing intervals in each building by using the same size file. The next stage is conducting some tests to determine which card is the quickest to download and upload. The used tests include normality test and Kruskal Wallis non-parametric statistical test. Based on the conducted tests, it is identified that the best GSM card for downloading is Telkomsel. Meanwhile, the best GSM card for uploading is Indosat.
