The aim of this study was to find the correlation between students reading
habit and student writing skill on 5th semester students of English Education
Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Muhammadiyah
University Purwokerto 2018/2019. This research used correlative quantitative
method.. The writer used random sampling of 20% the population for getting the
sample. The instrument from this research were using questionnaire and writing test.
The average of students’ reading habit was in the middle category and writing test
was in excellent category. The result of Product Moment test proved the correlation
of students’ reading habit and writing test. The result of computation showed that
rxy was lower than r - value table (-0.155 < 0.553) in the level degree of significance
5%. The research could be concluded that there was no correlation between
students’ reading habit and their writing skill.
