The research entitled Moral Values towards Family and Society in the Main
Characters in Berkas-Berkas Cahaya Novel by Tiyo Sumari aimed to describe Moral
Values towards Family and Society in the Main Characters in Berkas-Berkas Cahaya
Novel by Tiyo Sumari. The research type was qualitative descriptive. The method
employed was a religious approach. The data of this research were sentences or
paragraphs that contained moral values towards family or society. The data source
was the Berkas-Berkas Cahaya novel by Tiyo Sumari. At the data collection stage, the
researcher used reading and note-taking techniques. In the data analysis stage, the
researcher reduced the data found. Then, after being reduced, the researcher
presented it. At the last stage, the data was verified to re-check the notes contained in
the previous stage. The results on Moral Values towards Family and Society in Tiyo
Sumari's Berkas-berkas Cahaya Novel found that there were moral values towards
family and society. The moral values for the family include: 1) Birrul Walidain; 2)
Rights, Duties, and Love of Husband and Wife; 3) Parents' love and responsibility
towards their children; and 4) Visit to Relatives. The moral values for society include
1) Visiting and Receiving Guests; 2) Good Relations with Neighbors; 3) Good
Relations with the Community; 4) Youth Association, and 5) Islamic Brotherhood.
