Abstract
The intensive cultivation of African catfish, which is characterized by high stocking density, results in decreased water quality, making it susceptible to disease threat. Increasing immunity by giving natural immunostimulants can be a solution to the threat. Temulawak is known to increase hematocrit and leucocrite in carp, while garlic increases hematocrit in catfish. This study aims to determine the effect of feed supplementation of temulawak and garlic extract combination in increasing non-specific immunity and survival rate in African catfish. The method used was an experiment with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatment tested was a combination of temulawak and garlic with a dose of 20 g of temulawak + 18 g of garlic/kg of feed (P1), 25g of temulawak + 15 g of garlic/kg of feed (P2), 30 g of temulawak + 12 g of garlic / kg of feed (P3), and control (P0), with 4 replications. The main parameters observed were hematocrit, leucocrite, and survival rate, while the supporting parameters were temperature and pH of water. The data obtained were analyzed using the F test at the 95% confidence level followed by the DMRT test, while the water quality data were analyzed descriptively. The results show that feeding supplement of temulawak and garlic extract combination can significantly increase the non-specific immunity of African catfish against hematocrite, leucocrite, and survival rate with an optimum dose of 25 g temulawak + 15 g garlic/kg of feed (P2).
