Abstract

Java tea (Orthosiphon aristatus) is a plant that contains various compounds that can be used to treat various diseases. The leaves of the java tea have morphological similarities to the leaves of babadotan and tekelan so that it is possible to adulterate the raw materials of cat's whiskers. The purpose of this study was to authentication java tea using a combination of FTIR spectroscopy and chemometric methods. Methods: Standard simulation of java tea, babadotan, tekelan with different ratios of 0:100, 25:75, 50:50, 75:25, and 100:0 were analyzed using FTIR spectroscopy with PCA chemometric. Result: The resulting spectrum of java tea, babadotan and tekelan at wave numbers 1020,31-3361,93 cm¹. the standar simulation PCA analysis of java tea, babadotan and tekelan can be separated well into 3 different quadrants. The powder mixture of java tea and babadotan can be separated well into 3 different quadrants. The powder mixture of java tea and tekelan can be separated well into 3 different quadrants. Conclusion: The method of FTIR spectroscopy combined with chemometric can sparated java tea, babdotan and tekelan.
