This research aimed to describe the contextual meaning of slogan in SD Negeri
Alasmalang Kemranjen sub-distict, Banyumas Regency. This was a descriptive
qualitative research and the data included the words in the slogan. The data sources of
this research were the slogans made by the school. There were three steps in this
research, which were (1) data supply, (2) data analysis, and (3) data display. The
results of this research found 133 words in the slogan which contained lexical
meaning, 11 words or group of words which contained grammatical meaning, and 32
slogans which contained contextual meaning. The words with lexical and grammatical
meaning supported the contextual meaning contained in the slogan. All of the
contextual meanings in the slogans were educational messages for the students of SD
Negeri Alasmalang. Those messages were related to the students‟ character building
and behavior including the behavior of being religious, studying diligently, reading
books, being responsible, being honest, being friendly, being polite, being discipline,
and maintaining cleanliness.
