Abstract
African Sharptooth Catfish are cultivated intensively with high stocking density which lowers down the water quality due to the feed leftover and fish excrement. This condition makes the fish stressed and susceptible to disease. The current treatment for fish disease using antibiotics can cause bacteria resistance and environmental pollution. A better alternative is by giving natural immunostimulants such as turmeric and ginger extract. This research was conducted to find out the effects of turmeric and ginger extract combination toward the non-specific immune of the catfish using Completely Randomized Design. The treatment of giving turmeric and ginger extract combination included the dosage of 0 mg/kg of feed(control=P0), 600 mg of turmeric + 4.500 mg of ginger/kg of feed (P1), 750 mgof turmeric+ 3.750 mg of ginger/kg of feed(P2),and900 mgof turmeric+ 3.000 mg of ginger/kgof feed(P3),with 3 repetitions. The observed primary parameters were hematocrit and leukocrit, while the secondary parameters were pH and water temperature. The data were analyzed using F test with trust level of 95%, then continued using DMRT on trust level of95%. The results show that giving the combination of turmeric and ginger extract can improve the non-specific(hematocrit andleukocrit)immune and catfish survival significantly with the optimal dosage of900 mg of turmeric + 3.000 mg of ginger/kg of feed (P3).
