Abstract
This research aimed to reveal the function and marketing channel, margin and farmer share in the marketing of welsh onion commodity. The method of this research was descriptive and quantitative analysis. The descriptive analysis was done to find out the function and marketing channel of welsh onion, while the quantitative analysis was done to find out the margin and farmer share.
The results indicated that the marketing of welsh onion commodity was done by farmers doing the function of exchange and the function of facilitating. Retailers, collectors, and wholesalers did the functions of exchange, physics, and facilitate. There were 3 patterns of marketing channel which were farmers – collectors – retailers - consumers (pattern I), farmers - collectors – wholesalers - retailers - consumers (pattern II), farmers - wholesalers - retailers - consumers (pattern III). The biggest marketing margin was on pattern I with total margin of IDR 3000/Kg while the smallest total margin was IDR 1.000/Kg on pattern III. Farmer Share on pattern I was 76.92 %, on pattern II was 83.33 %, and on pattern III was 91.67%.
