Abstract
Background: Gliclazide is a drug that is included in class II in the Biopharmaceutical Classification System, this drug has low solubility in the air so that its dissolution rate is not good. This can affect its bioavailability. A solid dispersion system is a general method that can be used to increase the solubility of gliclazide in air, with the process of increasing the solubility it is expected that the dissolution rate of gliclazide will be higher. Method: The method used is synthesis analysis using a literature review. This review article will discuss several methods of manufacturing the densely populated dispersion and carrier of the HPMC-PEG 6000 carrier and coinciding with the resulting solid dispersion of DSC and FT-IR. Result: The results obtained from this review article increased gliclazide to increase in solubility. Conclusion: This review study proves that the latest solid dispersion system with HPMC-PEG 6000 polymer is effective at improving the solubility of gliclazide.
