Abstract

Background: Rheumatic herb is one of the herbal medicine products that is widely used by the community to treat inflammation and pain in the joints. Increasing herbal medicine makes the need for herbal medicine and herbal ingredients for herbal medicine increased as a result the price is more expensive. This gives a gap for the possibility of counterfeiting by some producers who are not good on some products, especially rheumatic herbal. This research to authentication lempuyang and temulawak in rheumatic herbal medicine products. Methods: Standard simulations of lempuyang and temulawak with different concentrations of 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100% and market samples of rheumatic herb were analyzed using an FTIR spectrophotometer combined with chemometric PCA and PLS. Results: The resulting spectrum of lempuyang and temulawak was at wave numbers 1022,27-3502,73 cm-1. Lempuyang and ginger can be distinguished using PCA and PLS. In the calibration model obtained value of R2 = 0.99868 with RMSEC (Root Mean Square of Calibration Validation) value obtained is 0, while the validation model is good with the R2 value obtained is 0.9759, and the RMSECV value obtained is 0.279656. Conclusion: The method of FTIR spectroscopy combined with PCA and PLS analyzes can be used to analyze the content of lempuyang and temulawak.
