Abstract

Outlet Clean Water is waste that comes from the results of processing at the Waste
Water Treatment Plant (IPAL) unit containing certain characteristics. WWTP PT
Pertamina RU IV Cilacap is part of a liquid waste treatment unit that produces
liquid waste whose parameters are still not in accordance with wastewater quality
standards. This will have an impact on the environment if it is disposed of directly
without maximum processing. In this study, the wastewater treatment process of
Outlet Clean Water WWTP was carried out with the coagulation method using
chitosan which aims to reduce the ammonia parameter to conform to the quality
standard according to PERMEN LH No.19 of 2010.
The study was conducted to determine the right dose of chitosan in reducing
ammonia levels ( NH3) in RU IV Cilacap oil refinery waste, Central Java. And to
determine the speed of rapid mixing (rapid mixing) of chitosan coagulant that is
appropriate in reducing levels of ammonia (NH3) in the waste oil refinery RU IV
Cilacap, Central Java. The condition of the initial sample before processing was
carried out, namely pH of 8, and ammonia of 33.5 mg/L. The optimum results from
the five variations of dosage (1200, 1800, 2400, 3000, and 3600 mg/L) and stirring
speed (50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 rpm) in ammonia analysis were 7.72 mg/L. .
Based on the results of the analysis of the ammonia parameter, it has met the
requirements of the wastewater quality standard.
