The research was aimed at I) finding out the general description of
Pesayangan village, Purbalingga regency, 2) finding out the history of the
development of muffler home industries in Pesayangan village, Puralingga regency in
2009-2019, 3) finding out the impact of the development of muffler home industries on
the socio-economic life of the people in Pesayangan village, Purbalingga regency.
The study used the historical research method. There were four stages, namely
heuristics (the process of collecting sources), criticism (a testing process that
considered the historical factors of a text), interpretation (the process of describing
and integrating data that have been collected and gone through a critical process),
and historiography (writing or presentation of historical events). The history of the
muffler home industries in Purbalingga could not be separated from the support of
the government in Purbalingga regency. The problem of lack of job vacancies faced
by the p~ople of Purbalingga at that time became a very serious problem that had to
be solved. The muffler home industries were present and opened up business
opportunities and created job opportunities for the surrounding community which
ultimately at least overcame the problem. The muffler home industries in 2009-2019
faced difficult phases in which there were many declines both in terms of employees
and the amount of production. Even in 2013-1018, the number of employees
decreased by almost 50 percent and the number of productions also decreased from
1.500 to 500 mufflers per month. Several factors had resulted in the decline of the
productions. One of the most dominant factors was the labor factor, apart from the
news about fake mufflers from Purbalingga. The impact for business owners was to
improve their social status. Some of them could eventually set up their own business.
For employees, the presence of these industries also had a positive impact from a
social and economic perspective. In addition, the muffler home industries were also
able to reduce unemployment and also created jobs. For the surrounding community,
the muffler home industries could be an additional income by being resellers or
brokers. Besides that, Pesayangan village became more crowded so that the
surrounding communities who were the sellers could get additional consumers.
