Abstract
The development of teaching materials is a basic need in an effort to improve students' understanding in summarizing explanatory texts. This study aims to describe: 1. the needs of fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Karangnangka for teaching materials to summarize explanatory texts using interactive media and mind mapping techniques in thematic learning of fifth grade elementary schools; 2. the feasibility of teaching materials to summarize explanatory texts by using interactive media and mind map techniques in thematic learning of fifth grade elementary school; 3. the effectiveness of teaching materials in summarizing explanatory texts using interactive media and mind map techniques in thematic learning of fifth grade elementary school. This research is a research and development (R&D) type. This research and development uses the ADDIE method which has five stages: 1. Analysis; 2. Design; 3. Development; 4. Implementation; 5. Evaluation. The trial design used a one-group pretest post-test design. While the data collection techniques with questionnaires and tests. The data analysis technique used is descriptive quantitative and paired sample t-test. The result of the research is that teaching materials for summarizing explanatory texts with mind map techniques in thematic learning are very effective as teaching materials for class V students with the theme "Heat and Its Movements".
