Abstract

Fingerprint pattern recognition is part of biometric recognition, fingerprints have a unique and relatively fixed pattern and do not change with age and do not have different expressions such as faces. This research was conducted by increasing the brightness of the original image converted into a brightness image. This study uses data as many as 10 fingerprint samples. The method used in this study is the canny method by increasing the brightness value. The process in this method includes several stages, namely image acquisition, grayscaling, brightness, histogram equalization, edge detection, and MSE. The test in this study was carried out by determining the lowest MSE value, namely the fingerprint sample number 2 at +25, +50, and +75 brightness with values of 16843.7, 16844.8, and 16846.5. The largest MSE value obtained was in sample number 8 at brightness +25, +50, and +75 with values of 22806.3, 22806.9, and 22808.4. The conclusion obtained from the results of testing the MSE value with good image quality is the smallest MSE value in sample number 2 with a value of 16843.7
