Abstract

This study discusses the role of students' peers on learning interest and achievement during the COVID-19 pandemic in grade 5 of SD Negeri 1 Kemiri. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of students' peers on the learning interest and achievement of grade 5 students. This is purely qualitative research with a case study approach. This research was conducted at SD Negeri 1 Kemiri. The data used in this study were primary and secondary data sources. Primary data was taken from grade 5 students of SD Negeri 1 Kemiri and secondary data from grade 5 teachers of SD Negeri I Kemiri, students parents, and literature from books and scientific articles related to research. The methods of observation, interviews, and documentation were used in the data collection. The Miles and Huberman components consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and data verification was used in the data analysis. The results of this study showed the influence of peers as follows: (a) peers acted as influencers in terms of student interest and achievement, (b) peers played a role in providing encouragement and motivation to students in terms of interest and learning achievement, and (c) peers acted as models or examples for students in building the interest and learning achievement.
