Adoption is still chosen by the community as an option to have children. Different motivations and goals form the basis for its implementation. Some of these motivations make a regulation not implemented or implemented properly and correctly, thus causing legal deviations such as adopting a child that is not through a decision from the Court. This study aims to determine the legal consequences of adopting a child without going through a court order. This study uses a normative-empirical juridical method with data collection and interview techniques. The results of the study found that in Karang Tengah Village, Purwokerto, adopting children without going through a court decision, where children do not have legal certainty and legal protection.
