Abstract

This research aimed to find out the level of society preparedness against landslide disaster in Tumiyang village. The populations of this research involved the whole society of Tumiyang consisting of 1668 people and the samples were taken using the purposive sampling technique. This research also aimed to find out the disaster-affected people with 30 analysis and descriptive qualitative using a frequency table. The primary data of this research were collected using 1) observation, in which the researcher obtained the data including the disaster scene location and the landslide barrier, 2) questionnaire, in which the researcher obtained the data about the existence of disaster response organization, the ownership of landslide hazard map, landslide barrier, physical infrastructure maintenance, the making of evacuation infrastructure, and evacuation routes. Meanwhile, the secondary data of this research included the land utilization, population data, and population area data of 2020 which were obtained from some related agencies. The results stated that societys preparedness against landslide disasters was still low. It was caused by the absence of disaster response organization, socialization, basic training about landslide, the making of disaster early sign system, and disaster prone map. Moreover, the quality of the landslide barrier infrastructures such as gabion, embankment, concrete wall, and foundation was still low. The maintenance was also still low, because it was only done when there was a damage. In addition, there were no evacuation facilities or routes in place to anticipate landslides.
