Abstract

Pangsar Sudirman Reservoir is a multipurpose reservoir that functions as a supplier of irrigation water and a source of hydroelectric power (PLTA) for the electricity needs with interconnection systems in Java, Madura, and Bali. The increase in sedimentation makes the reservoir storage volume decrease and it affects the operation of the reservoir in meeting the needs of irrigation water and hydroelectric power production. The purpose of this study was to determine the operational state of Pangsar Sudirman Reservoir in serving the needs. The secondary data were used including the data of inflow and outflow (2009-2018), the data of reservoir volume based on sounding contour measurements (2018), the data of sedimentation (1988-2018), and the data of daily reservoir elevation(2009-2018). The simulation method was employed to calculate the reservoir operation model. The simulation of the operating model of Pangsar Sudirman Reservoir (2009-2018)was divided into three groups: wet years, normal years, and dry years. The results of the simulation in wet years indicated that there was no volume of runoff through the spillway. While in the normal years and dry years scenario, the total volume of the runoff was 94,650,190 m3 and 30,852,425.45 m3 respectively. Based on the results of the reservoir performance evaluation, the reliability of the operation model simulation was 100% and the failure was 0%.
