Abstract

Transformer is a device that supplies electrical energy directly to consumers, both high voltage, medium voltage and low voltage consumers. To protect the power transformer from damage, protection relays have been installed that can recognize abnormal conditions in the electric power system and take steps that are deemed necessary to ensure the separation of disturbances with the least possible disturbance to normal operation. In this study, a calculation and analysis of the reliability of the relay protection are carried out so that the protection system works in accordance with its function as a safety measure so that the stability of electric power goes well. Based on the results of the study obtained as many as 8 times interruption including technical interference, interference on transformer 1 that activates OCR relay and PMT trip because the load current exceeds the nominal current of 875A while the nominal current is obtained 384.9A, in transformer II there is a short circuit interference due to KBL feeder I was burned with a surge in current of 3617A while the setting current was 793.37A, transformer III interrupted with a load current of 960A while the setting current was 316.36A so that it resulted in an active relay, and an unknown disturbance then for relay performance of 91.67% as the reliability of the protection system on the transformer.
