Abstract

This study aims to determine the carrying capacity of residential land in Padamara Sub-District, Purbalingga Regency, considering the growth of new settlements characterized by the increase of urban areas in Padamara. This will trigger the increasing need of land for settlements and other infrastructure. The population growth rate in Padamara is the fastest in Purbalingga Regency which is 1.76% per year only during the last 8 years, this will indirectly reduce the area of productive land such as wetland (agriculture) and dry land ( plantation/dry field) to be used as residential land. The method used is survey and literature study methods. Data analysis uses the concept of building coverage and it is described descriptive-qualitatively. The results of this study indicate that the carrying capacity of residential land in Padamara is 25%, which means the carrying capacity of residential land is classified as good. Whereas for villages that have the carrying capacity of residential land using the largest building coverage formula, namely in Karangsentul Village at 75.59% and Bojanegara Village at 61.60%, while the lowest percentage is in Prigi Village at 8.39%. The carrying capacity of residential land in Padamara is predicted to reach the optimum limit of 70%, namely in 2081 with a population of 134,322 people
