Abstract
Petroleum production, which is increasingly decreasing, makes various parties look for ways to get more oil from them. Surfactant injection is one type of chemical injection that is used in the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) process to increase petroleum recovery. Surfactants are able to carry out mechanisms for decreasing the interface tension of oil and water fluids in the rock matrix so that the oil grains can be released and produced. The effectiveness of natural surfactants reducing the oil-water interface stress is influenced by the type of surfactant used, the concentration of surfactant and the salinity of the solution.
The surfactant used in this study was anionic surfactant in the form of lignosulfonate. This sodium lignosulfonate surfactant is obtained from rice husk. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of sodium lignosulfonate surfactant on sandstone rocks and the effect of the salinity level of the solution on adsorption. Adsorption characteristics were identified by Langmuir isotherm and Freundlich isotherm. The adsorption process is carried out with a mechanical stirrer for 2 hours at a speed of 120 rpm and temperature conditions of approximately 29oC. The salinity conditions tested were using distilled water, 5000 ppm NaCl solution, 10000 ppm NaCl solution. The variations in concentration used include 0.1% wt; 0.2% wt; 0.3% wt; 0.4% wt; 0.5% wt. From the results of the study, the values of Cs (the equilibrium concentration of surfactant) and q (the amount of surfactant adsorption) are calculated. these values are then used to calculate the value of b (Langmuir isotherm constant) and the value of n (Freundlich's isotherm constant). From the results of the study, the values of b and n in a row from the condition of salinity of aquades, 5000 ppm, 10000 ppm are 12.73; 13.75; 13; 87; 2.56; 3.09; 3.24; Adsorption of surfactant solutions Sodium lignosulfonate in various salinity tends to follow the Langmuir isotherm model with an R2 value of 0.98. As for the effect of salinity on surfactant adsorption, based on the research, adsorption tends to rise to a concentration of 0.3% wt after that, the adsorption tends to be stable up to a concentration of 0.5% wt as the salinity and concentration increase. The adsorption value at a concentration of 0.5 wt% of distilled water solution, 5000 ppm, 10000 ppm in a row was 0.00125 g / g, 0.00134 g / g, 0.00141 g / g.
