This study was aimed to know the students‟ difficulties in reading
comprehension. The survey method was used this research. The instruments are
questionnaire and interview. The participants of this study were the second grade
students of SMK Ma‟arif NU 1 Sumpiuh in the academic year 2018/ 2019. The
research findings revealed that difficulties in reading comprehension faced by
students were determine main idea (95.32%), find the specific information
(95.76%), find the reference (89.08%), find inference (95.76%), understand
vocabulary (100%), and understand the grammar (97.99%). In addition, the result
of the questionnaire was supported by interview which can be concluded that
students were difficult to conclude a text because they do not have enough
vocabulary.
