Abstract

Rice bran oil or better known as rice bran oil is oil extracted from rice bran,
which in its processing includes three important factors namely stabilization, extraction
and destillation. Rice bran oil can be used as edible oil, as a raw material for cosmetic
and pharmauceutical products.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of bran size, solvent ratio,
and extraction time and determine the factors that most influence the extraction of bran
oil by using a n-hexane solvent and analyze the content of % FFA and density of the
yield of rice bran crude oil. The results showed that the size of the bran, the ratio of
solvent and extraction time had a significant effect on the extraction procces of rice
bran oil because it had p= <0,05 and the most influential factor was extraction time
with a value of 1,63 and a value (p=0,02), while following the next factor is the size of
bran which is -1,45 and the value (p=0,03), and the next is the solvent ratio of -1,37
and the value (p=0,04). The % FFA obtained by 0,48 % still exceeds the limit allowed
by SNI, which is a maximum of 0,05 %, while the density or specific gravity obtained
is 0,886
