Farming experience plays an important role in increasing the competence of
farmers. Farmers who have high experience will usually be more mature in
dealing with various problems in farming. One of the factors which affect the
decline in the productivity of jicama plants is the presence of plant-disturbing
organisms(OPT)on agricultural land which makes plants become sick. This
research was conducted to discover the correlation of the knowledge, attitude, and
action of farmers in managing pests of jicama plants in Linggasari Village,
Kembaran Sub-district, Banyumas Regency. This was descriptive research with a
survey method. 40 farmers were selected as the research participants using the
purposive sampling technique. While the determination of the area was based on
the presence of jicama commodities. The research results indicated that most of
the participants were 50 years old, graduated from primary school, and had20
years of experience in farming. The results of the tabulation of correlation
calculation using the Chi-square test showed a p-value of 0.015 (p0.05) meaning
that there is a correlation between farming experience and the knowledge of
participants in managing jicama plant pests in Linggasari Village.
