This study aims to describe the optimism of the characters based on the
characteristics of optimism in the novel Bunda Kisah Cinta 2 Kodi by Asma Nadia.
This is a descriptive qualitative research. The object of this study is the optimism
contained in the novel. The data of this study are texts showing the characteristics of
optimism. The data source of this research is the novel Bunda Kisah Cinta 2 Kodi by
Asma Nadia. The approach used in this research is literature psychology. Data
collection techniques in this study used reading techniques and note taking techniques.
Data analysis techniques used in this study are data reduction, data presentation, data
verification and conclusions. The results of this study shows that there is an optimistic
attitude characterized by the characteristics of optimism in the novel. The
characteristics of optimism are shown by the main and additional figures. The
characteristics of optimism found are (1) being able to motivate themselves, (2) feeling
a lot of sense to find a way to achieve goals, (3) having high self-confidence, (4) never
feeling desperated, (5) being able to think positively, (6) trying to increase the strength
they have, (7) being able to accept facts of life with awareness without complaining or
protesting, (8) having a feeling of being blessed by God's Grace, (9) having the ability
to carry out a self-improvement agenda continuously.
