Abstract

This research aimed to: 1) find out the cost and profit of tempeh agro-industry in Pliken Village; 2) find out the production factors that affected the production of tempeh; 3) find out the efficiency level of production factor use on tempeh agro-industry in Pliken Village. This research was conducted in Pliken Village, Kembaran Sub-district, Banyumas Regency because this area is one of tempeh production centers which have big potential to be more widely developed in Banyumas. The samples were taken using simple random sampling which included 50 tempeh makers. The data were analyzed using the analysis of cost, reception, R/C and production function of Cobb-Douglas. The results showed that: The average of total receipt was Rp15.409.300, 00 per month and the average of total cost was Rp10.831.163, 00 per month, so the profit was Rp4.578.137, 00 and the value of R/C ratio was 1.4. The production factors that affected tempeh production activity included the production of soybean, fuel, yeast, and package. The analysis results of efficiency level of production inputs use showed that the usage allocation of soybean was 1.4 with the result of more than 1, so it was not efficient yet allocatively. The usage allocation of yeast was 26.1 with the result of more than 1, so it was not efficient yet allocatively. The usage allocation of package was 0.1 with the result of less than 1, so it was not efficient yet allocatively. Based on the results, it is expected that the use of soybean, fuel, and yeast in the production of tempeh need to be increased until it reaches the limit of marginal product value comparison with the production factor equals to 1. The less optimal usage of yeast needs to be adjusted with the weather, if the weather is hot, the need of yeast will be less, however if the weather is cold, the need of yeast will be more. Meanwhile, the use of package input needs to be decreased in order that the production input to be more efficient.
