Abstract

This study aimeds to find out the effect of PGPR (Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria) on two varieties of shallot plants (Allium ascalonicum L). The study was conducted at the Greenhouse of Agriculture Faculty, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto from January to March 2019. Theresearchwasarrangedbasedonfactorialrandomizedblockdesign(RBD),consistin goftwofactors.Thefirst factor is shallot varieties (V), namely V1 (Bima) and V2 (Heading). The second factor is the difference in PGPR concentration (K), namely K0 (control), K1 (5 ml / L), K2 (10 ml / L), and K3 (15 ml / L). Each treatment was repeated 4 (four) times so that there were 32 experimental units with 3 samples per trial unit so that the total number is 96 polybags. The observed variables included total leaf length, number of leaves, number of tubers, fresh leaf weight at harvest, dry leaf weight, fresh tuber weight, dry tuber weight, fresh root weight, dry root weight, and total root length. Data were analyzed with a fingerprint at 5% level, if it had a significant effect, it would be followed by an average test using DMRT at 5%level. The results showed that the difference in onion varieties significantly affected the number of tubers, while the difference in PGPR concentration significantly affected total leaf length, fresh leaf weight at harvest, dry leaf weight, fresh tuber weight, dry tuber weight, fresh root weight, and root weight dry. The Bima variety shows a better growth response than the Tajuk variety. The best PGPR concentration is 10 ml / L PGPR water.
