Abstract

Chili is an agricultural commodity with a high economic value. In
Indonesia, the supply of red chili has not been able to meet the needs of the
communities. One of the biggest factors in decreasing the number of chilies was
the attack of anthracnose. Anthracnose is caused by the fungus Colletotrichum
capsici. This fungus would infect chili peppers marked by small black spots on the
fruit. Then, the fruit would be dry and shrivel or mummy and would fall off. The
study aimed to determine the use of extracts of several types of weeds at different
temperatures of aquades solvent on the intensity of anthracnose disease, growth,
and yield of red chili plants. The study was conducted from February 2021 to
June 2021. It was a field experiment study with a Completely Randomized Design
(CRD). The treatment consisted of two factors. The first factor consisted of the
different types of weeds (bandotan weed, kirinyuh weed, and teki weed), while the
second factor consisted of the different temperatures of aquades solvent (normal
temperature, 500C temperature, 900C temperature). The observation variables
were plant height, fresh healthy fruit weight, number of healthy fruit, number of
diseased fruit, the intensity of anthracnose disease, phytotoxicity test, and
phytochemical screening test. The extract spraying process was carried out once
a week. The weed extract treatment significantly affected the number of diseased
fruit and the intensity of anthracnose disease and did not significantly affect the
number of healthy fruit, healthy fruit weight, and plant height. The simple
extraction with different solvent temperatures did not significantly affect all
observed variables. The interaction between the types of extract and the difference
in solvent temperature significantly affected the number of diseased fruits.
Bandotan extract treated with solvent at room temperature (T1M1) and treated
with the solvent temperature of 900C (T1M3) produced the least number of
diseased fruits, namely 3.40 fruit/plant and 4.80 fruit/plant.
