Abstract

Hydrogels that have been developed this time are hydrogel with a polymer base
without any addition of drugs, so for acceleration wound healing can be developed
hydrogel with the addition Banana Sap (Musa Paradisiaca) as a drug that is
expected to accelerate the wound dressing application. The preparation of PEOPEGDMA-
Banana Sap hydrogel was made using a new method of dissolving the
banana sap with PEO-PEGDMA before crosslinking. The composition of banana
sap (Musa Paradisiaca) concentration was 0% to 15% (by volume) and irradiated
with gamma rays. The measured characteristics included gel fraction, swelling
ratio, water vapour transmission rate and mechanical properties. The chemical and
morphology structur were analyzed using Fourier Transform Infrared
Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Whereas to prove
the acceleration of wound healing speed was analyzed by invivo test. The research
result showed that gel fraction, swelling ratio, and the water vapour transmission
rate value of PEO-PEGDMA-Banana Sap hydrogel increased at concentration of
0-15%. Tensile strength of hydrogels decreased with the addition of Banana Sap
and the elongation of hydrogels increased with the addition of Banana Sap. PEOPEGDMA
hydrogel film with the addition of banana sap has been proven to
accelerate the healing of wounds through the Invivo Test. The result showed that
hydrogels can be developed from PEO-PEGDMA-Banana Sap which can be used
as wound dressing.
