Abstract

The increase of diaper usage gives a serious contribution to the environment
pollution. The hydrogel in diaper waste can be an alternative growing media.
But, the growing media must have enough nutrition to fulfill the plant's need.
Therefore, some amounts of filler are necessary to be added into the growing media
of diapers waste hydrogel. This research aimed to find out the characteristics
of diapers waste hydrogel, the effect of adding straw fiber nano nutrition towards
the release rate constant, and the growth of mung beans and soy beans. The hydrogel
of diapers waste was loaded with (0%, 1%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%)
composition variation of straw fiber nano and dried at 40ºC for 3 days. The
results showed a change of OH function group interaction. The morphology of the
diapers waste hydrogel surface had tight structure. The water absorption (Swelling)
of diapers waste hydrogel decreased and the release rate constant value increased.
The release rate constant values of straw fiber nano orderly in composition
variation of (1%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%) were 0.021; 0.1187; 0.1483, 0.2077,
and 0.2175. The growing media of diapers which was mixed with soil produced
the quickest growth compared to the one with no soil.
