This study aimed to describe the author's view in the short story
collection. It used in this study was a genetic structuralism approach. This data of
this study were texts of a short story. Source of the data in this study was a short
story collection Penjagal Itu Telah Pergi by Gunawan Budi Susanto presenting
the information needed. Data of this study were collected by using reading and
note-taking techniques. Data of this study were analyzed through data reduction,
data presentation and data verification. Results of the study in the form of
author's view revealed: (1) the weakness of the law in a country; (2) respecting
someone's privacy; (3) the importance of knowing family history; (4) human
rights violations by Orde Baru government.
