This research was aimed at examining the effectiveness of Active Learning Strategy type Index Card Match to teach English vocabulary for disabled students type Tuna Grahita. A pre-experimental method involving 5 students selected as the research subject had been used in this research. A test instrument designed with multiple choice and matching items had been used to collect the primary data, while observation had been conducted to collect the secondary data of the research. The technique of data analysis used was non-parametric statistics with Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test Analysis since the number of the research subject was less than 30. The data analysis from pre-test and post-test shows that the value of Z-counted is -2.032 with probability (P) 0.042. Thus, the value of probability from Z-counted is lower than the wrong probability 5% (0.042 < 0.05) which can be stated as a significant result. Moreover, this significant result was strengthened by the observation result which shows that the students’ mastery of words meaning was very good with the average score 82%. Then, the students’ mastery of words pronunciation was good with the average score 78.6%, and the students’ mastery of words spelling was a slight good with the average score 74%. In brief, it can be concluded that hypothesis is acceptable, or in other words, Active Learning Strategy type Index Card Match is effective to teach English vocabulary for disabled students type Tuna Grahita in Junior High School level at Special Needs Educational Institution Kuncup Mas, Banyumas in the academic year 2013-2014.
