Abstract

Increasing land use is caused by human activities such as for gardens,
settlements, moorings. It can cause river damage and increase sediment inflowing the
river. The objective of this study was to determine the distribution pattern of sediment
in the Logawa River, Logawa Sub-watershed, Banyumas Regency. The method used in
this research is survey method. The population in this study is Suspended sediment in
the Logawa River which flows from upstream to downstream. The sample in this study
was purposive random sampling. Purposive sampling was the upstream, midstream,
and downstream regions. Then the determination of sample points was done by
random sampling with the taking of points in the upstream representing one region,
the midstream representing two regions, and the downstream representing one region.
3 area points (right, center, and left) were taken from each sample of the area study
with depth water of approximately 1m from the water level. Thus, there were a total of
12 samples taken during conditions after rain and not rain. Based on the results of
research, the sediment concentration was on average of 156.75 mg/l after rain and by
65.75 mg/l when it did not rain. Analysis of suspended sediment patterns after the rain
to further downstream was in good to moderate category, while the sediment patterns
when it did not rain in further downstream was in good category. Suspended
sediments could be good to moderate category after greening, vegetative and biopore
conservation programs that could reduce sediment in rivers.
