Abstract

Along with the rapid technology in a development, the need for building
materials also continues to increase, especially the need for coarse aggregate as a
concrete mixture. Therefore, the use of other materials or resources needs to be
developed, one of which is by utilizing lava stone as a concrete mixture. The
purpose of this study was to determine the compressive strength of concrete of
lava stone as a substitute of coarse aggregate, and to find out the type of concrete
experiencing optimum concrete compressive strength. In this study the quality of
the planned concrete was K-250 (fc '21.7 MPa) with variations in the making of
concrete samples by 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. The results of this study
showed that the highest compressive strength was found in the variation of 10% of
compressive strength with 27.94 MPa higher than the SNI plan of 21.7 MPa. The
lowest compressive strength was found in the variation of 20%, with a
compressive strength of 20.42 Mpa.
