Abstract

The research aims to find out the role of parents parenting in the
characters of children at an early age. The subjects of the study are five children
and parents of second-year Students of TK Masyithoh 22 Sibalung in the
academic year of 2019/2020.
This research was conducted in TK 22 Masyithoh Sibalung, Kemranjen
District, Banyumas Regency. This is descriptive qualitative research. The data are
collected through participation observation, interviews, and documentation. The
instruments are interview sheets of parenting and observation sheets of children's
characters. The data are analyzed through three stages, namely data reduction,
data presentation, and conclusions.
The results find some roles of parents parenting on the character of the
children at an early age. The results of the analysis indicated that there are four
types of parenting, namely: democratic, authoritarian, permissive and
inconsistent parenting. Democratic parenting, found in NM and ADZ, has a good
role in the growth of the characters of autonomy, discipline, and responsibility.
Authoritarian parenting applied to the ARJ has a good role in the growth of the
character of discipline. Permissive parenting, found in REW, tends to be less good
for the development of discipline and independent character. Inconsistent
parenting tends to be less good, especially in the RA independent character. The
most effective parenting role in shaping the characters of discipline, autonomy,
and responsibility is democratic parenting.
