Abstract

The research aims to identify and reveal the water quality and fish reproduction profile in Pelus River of Banyumas area in 2020. The research uses a survey method with purposive random sampling. The water quality measurement and fish sampling were conducted in three different locations, namely in the upstream, midstream, and downstream of the river. Sampling was taken three times in a month interval (January 2020 March 2020). The water quality, sex ration, Gonad Maturity Level, Gonad Maturity Index, and fish egg fecundity were analyzed descriptively. The analysis result of water quality including physics, chemical, and biological qualities indicates that water in Pelus River of Banyumas area in 2020 is still in good category and appropriate for fish life. Among nine caught fish species, there are seven species whose sex ration can be calculated in the range of 100-900%. Meanwhile, the whole ratio of male and female fish is 4.66: 1, meaning that the male and female fish are not balanced. Moreover, there are five species whose egg fecundity can be calculated. For Lempon fish (Neolissochilus sp.), its gonad maturity level is III, its gonad maturity index is around 7.26%, and its fecundity is around 1640 eggs. For Melem fish (Osteochilus vittatus), its gonad maturity levels are I, II, III, IV, and V, its gonad maturity index is around 5.64-12.80%, and its fecundity is around 336-4489 eggs. For Brek fish (Barbonymus balleroides), its gonad maturity levels are I, II, III, IV, and V, its gonad maturity index is around 12.98-15.62 %, and its fecundity is around 170-3680 eggs. For Mujaer fish (Oreochromisniloticus), its gonad maturity levels are IV, its gonad maturity index is around 4.32 %, and its fecundity is around 1075 eggs. For Sapu-sapu fish (Pterygoplichtysrugosus), its gonad maturity levels are IV, its gonad maturity index is around 10.78 %, and its fecundity is around 5121 eggs.
