Abstract

The internet has developed very fast and spread broadly, thus it makes internet users escalates. Internet users are now becoming gradually increase. The users are not only certain groups or companies and government agencies, but also people from urban to rural communities. 4G network technology has a faster speed than its predecessor 3G. Equipped with the development of smartphones or mobile devices, it makes it easier to access the internet anywhere. There are some factors that can affect network quality for internet service providers, such as the increase of delay so as to reduce the quality of internet services. The number of provider users can cause an increase in the amount of network delay from the number of data packets waiting in line to be sent. This research examined the comparison of the quality of downloads and uploads on 4G networks using 5 types of GSM internet service providers in 5 buildings located at Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, with nine testing intervals in each building and uses the same file size. Then Kruskal Wallis's non-parametric statistical test was performed to analyze the data by comparing the average delay. Based on the test, it proved that the best download provider was Telkomsel in the Engineering and Science Building, while the best provider for uploading was Indosat at the K.H. Ahmad Dahlan Mosque.
