Abstract

Need for electrical energy is increasing every year. Electrical energy is currently still utilizing fossil energy as the main energy. Alternative electrical energy that can be utilized kinetic energy is the flywheel. This study aims to find out how much kinetic energy the Flywheel has, by knowing how long it takes for the electric motor to stop until the flywheel stops. Research that has been carried out with the results of a Flywheel weighing 4.9 kg with a diameter of 20 cm produces 2.86 joules (watt-seconds), 7.1 kg produces a diameter of 20 cm, 3.98 joules (watt-seconds) and 25 kg with a diameter of 30 cm. 16.33 joules(watt-seconds). So the heavier and larger the diameter of the flywheel, the greater the energy produced.
