Abstract
Most Banyumas people cultivating catfish use tarpaulin reservoir as the
solution to the limited land and water supply. The waste of catfish reservoir from
the farming has not been utilized and only disposed of after the production of
catfish farming, even though it still contains micronutrients needed by plants.
Andriyeni et al. (2017) stated that the waste of catfish water reservoir contains
0.98 - 1.67% (average 1.32%), phosphorus 1.89 - 3.4% (average 2.64%) and
potassium 0.01 - 1, 03% (average 0.35%), so that it can be used as fertilizer.
However, the levels of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium have not met the
requirements of liquid organic fertilizer according to the Regulation of the
Minister of Agriculture (Permentan) No. 70 of 2001. Therefore, it needs to be
substituted with fertilizer that has met the requirements. This research aims to
investigate the use of hydroponic fertilizer with substitution of catfish water
reservoir waste towards the production of green mustard (Brassica juncea l.). This
study employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with a treatment in the
form of a combination of hydroponic fertilizer with the waste of catfish reservoir
in the following ratios: P1 (100% hydroponic fertilizer), P2 (80% hydroponic
fertilizer: 20% waste of catfish reservoir), P3 (P3 ( hydroponic fertilizer 60%: the
waste of catfish reservoir 40%), P4 (hydroponic fertilizer 40%: the waste of
catfish reservoir 60%), P5 (hydroponic fertilizer 20%: the waster of catfish
reservoir 80%), and P6 (the waste of catfish reservoir 100%). It was repeated three
times. The parameters observed were the height of plant, number of leaves, length
and width of leaves, number and length of roots, fresh weight of the whole
biomass, and fresh weight of biomass without root. The research data were
analyzed using one-way ANOVA with F test continued with the Duncan Multiple
Range Test (DMRT). The result reveals that the substitution of hydroponic
fertilizer with the waste of catfish reservoir affects the vegetative growth of green
mustard. The higher the concentration of the waste of catfish reservoir, the lower
of the growth and production of green mustard plants. The best substitution is P2
treatment (80% hydroponic fertilizer: the waste of catfish reservoir 20%) with
fresh biomass weights without roots of 2.53 kg. The substitution of hydroponic
fertilizer for the production of mustard greens is still not good because the use of
waste of catfish reservoir is still below 50%.
