Abstract
This research focused on the factors affect the English listening achievement and the teacher’s strategy to teach the listening English learning. The purpose of this research is to find out the most dominant factors affecting the students’ listening achievement, and the teacher strategies in teaching listening. This research was conducted in “SD Al Irsyad Al Islamiyyah 02 Purwokerto” in Academic Year of 2019/2020. The research method was descriptive, in which the data were collected through test and interviews. The test were given twice in which each test consisted 10 items, and the interviews were conducted with 10 students. There were 90 students did the test. The data were analyzed using the desciptive analysis procedures. The study revealed that the students listening competence are categorized high, middle and low. The students’ achievements are affected by some factors identified: the like and dislike, the difficulties of learning process, the teacher, environment, media and the type of tasks. In teaching listening, the teachers have some strategies identified they are using teachers’ own voice, using media, listen and repeat and the last is listen and do.
