Abstract

This research belongs to survey which was aimed at revealing the students‟ perception on using English movie as a media in listening activities and knowing the factor that make the movie become the appropriate media in learning listening. During conducting this survey, the researcher employed two instruments: questionnaire and interview. The 8th semester students majoring in English Language Teaching were involved as the participants of this research. Having conducted the research, the researcher found two research results: 1) all respondents perceived positively and and has very strong peception about English movie that can be used as a medium in learning listening; 2) there are 5 factors which affect students in using English movies as an appropiate media in learning listening:. First, English movie makes the students feels relax, enjoy and easier in learning listening. Second, English movie as part of EFL student‟s Hobbies. Next, English movie are considered good for EFL students‟ listening ability. English movies bring Real-world learning. And the last, various English movie genre facilitate the students to treat their listening ability.
