Abstract

This descriptive qualitative quantitative research was conducted from February to July 2021 which aimed to:1) find out the characteristics of Manunggal Karya craftsman group which produce and promote the coconut waste crafts; 2) determine the factors affecting the promotion of the craft products; 3) discover the promotion technique used by the craftsman group. The data were collected by interview, observation, and documentation, while the samples were selected by census method in which the samples were determined by involving all of the group populations consisting of 35 respondents. The results concluded that the characteristics of the 35 respondents included age, education levels, number of supported family members, and the period of the business. Meanwhile, the kinds of promotion included the word-of- mouth marketing, exhibition, social media, and collaboration with institutions, and the most effective promotion was through word-of-mouth marketing which had been done outside the area of Purbalingga, even outside Java such as Sumatera and Kalimantan.
