Abstract

The study, entitled The Conjunction Usage on Argumentative Text for Tenth Grade RPL
Students of Smk Negeri 1 Purwokerto in the Academic Year 2017-2018 and its Implementation in
Indonesian Subject aimed to describe the usage of conjunction usage in Argumentative text for
tenth grade RPL students SMK Negeri 1 Purwokerto in the academic year 2017-2018 and its
implementation in Indonesian subject. The methodology conducted was a qualitative descriptive
study. The data collected were conjunctions which existed in Argumentative test at tenth grade
RPL students of SMK Negeri 1 Purwokerto. Sources of data in this study, namely the composition
of the argumentative text at tenth grade students RPL SMK Negeri 1 Purwokerto consisted of 36
students and 32 Argumentative texts and tenth RPL 2 of SMK Negeri 1 Purwokerto consisted of 35
students and 33 Argumentative texts. This study applied free involvement observation interview
(simak bebas libat cakap) technique, note taking (catat) technique, reduction (lesap) techniques,
and transformation (ganti) technique. The research methods were observation (simak) method and
the distribution (agih) method. The results of this study indicated that the use of coordinative
conjunctions usage which stated coordinative conjunction with its combination with an expansion
showed with “dan” 142 words, “misalnya” 2 words, and
“serta” 5 words, “apalagi” 1 word; coordinative resistance
conjunctions which stated reinforcement, namely “namun” 1 word; the
coordinating conjunction of resistance relations which stated an implications, namely tetapi 2
words; coordinative conjunction with the selection “atau” 55 words and
“maupun” 6 words. The use of subordinate conjunctions such as subordinate
conjunctions which stated the time correlation: “ketika” 1 word; subordinate
conjunction which stated the requirement correlation: “jika” as many as 7 words,
“bila” 2 words; subordinate which stated the correlation of presuppositions:
“bila” 1 word; subordinate which stated the correlation of objectives:
“agar”19 words, “supaya” 8 words; subordinate which stated the
concessive correlation: “meskipun” 1 word, “walaupun” 1 word;
subordinate which stated the comparison correlation: “seperti” 17 words,
“sebagai” 6 words; subordinate which states the cause correlation:
“karena”109 words; subordinate which states the correlation of results:
“sehingga” 11 words, “sehingga” 18 words; subordinate which
states tool correlation: “dengan” 15 words; subordinate which states the
correlation of manner: “dengan” 19 words; subordinate which states the
correlation of complementation: “bahwa” 8 words; subordinate which states
attributive correlation: “yang” 30 words; subordinate which states the comparison
correlation: “lebih ... daripada” 2 words. The use of correlative conjunctions
“baik ... maupun” 4 words, “tidak hanya, ... tetapi juga...” 5 words
and “bukan hanya, ... melainkan juga...” 2 words. The use of conjunctions among
sentences such as “walaupun demikian” 2 words; “selain itu” 14
words; “ namun ” 1 word; “oleh karena itu/oleh sebab itu” 5 words;
“dengan demikian” 2 words. Furthermore, the results of this study can be
developed into teaching materials in the form of Indonesian Language subject for tenth grade
SMK in even semester on Basic Competencies (KD) 4.1 to develop problems or issues from
various perspectives supported with arguments in debating.
