Abstract

Inverter is a device that converts direct electrical energy (DC) into alternating
current (AC), the need for an inverter is always increasing along with the use of
electricity in everyday life. Inverters are used to operate lighting, televisions,
computers, electric motors, laptops, air conditioners, and so on. This study aims
to examine the performance and quality of the inverter when given a load.
The method in inverter performance research is to measure, observe and analyze
voltage, current, multilevel loading, efficiency, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD),
frequency, measurement of electrical quality, waveform and advantages of each
inverter. Testing with a multimeter, oscilloscope, power harmonic analyzer,
wattage and ampere meter.
The electric energy source for the Pure Sine wave and non Pure Sine wave
inverters uses a 12VDC 7.0Ah battery for the EGS-002 Pulse Width Modulation
(PWM) wave generator with the final amplification of the H-bridge MOSFET
IRF3205 producing a sine wave with a frequency of 50Hz, voltage 220V,
efficiency 35, 4%, THD 35.2% and has stability because there is feedback control.
Non Pure Sine wave inverter with IC 4047 final gain H-bridge MOSFET
IRFZ44N produces a square waveform (Square wave) frequency 50Hz, voltage
230V, efficiency 40.0%, infinite harmonics. The output power of the Pure Sine
wave and non Pure Sine wave inverters is 120Watt.
Pure Sine wave inverter has advantages, stability and a more complex system
because the working system is regulated in such a way by EGS-002, the output is
smooth and there is feedback-control and the non Pure Sine wave inverter has the
advantage of higher efficiency.
