Abstract

This research aimed to find out the teachers’ strategies in teaching speaking skill online during the Covid-19 pandemic. Because speaking is one of important skill, so speaking must be taught even online. In conducting this research, the researcher used qualitative descriptive research. The research subjects were four English teachers from MTs Negeri 1 Banjarnegara. The data collection techniques were observation and interview. The sampling technique of this research was purposive sampling. The findings showed that there were five strategies by the English teachers in teaching speaking; demonstration, storytelling, role play, interview and discussion. These strategies were used because they are considered easy to practice in online learning.
