This research aimed to describe mathematical problem solving ability viewed from self-confidence of students in Junior High School (SMP) of Diponegoro 1 Purwokerto on a learning material of circle. This qualitative descriptive research used Miles and Humerman method which include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion (verification / conclusion drawing). Subject of this research was obtained by purposive sampling technique, students were grouped into three categories; students with high self-confidence, fair self-confidence, and low self-confidence. Data collections used were questionnaire, test, interview, and documentation. Based on the result, it can be concluded that students with high self-confidence were able to master first until third indicator and and have not fully mastered the fourth indicator of mathematical problem solving abilities. Students with fair self-confidence tend to be able to master the first and second indicator and have not have not fully mastered the third and fourth indicator, while students having low self-confidence have not been able to master the indicators of mathematical problem solving ability.
